New NonmetallicWire for Medical Devices in the Presence of MRIs and X-rays

To further meet the needs of themedical and EMC communities, Marktek Inc. announces the expansion of its lineof Fibreohm nonmetallic, resistive wires. Fibreohm wires consist of mostly nonmetallic, conductive cores, rangingin linear resistances from 2 ohm/cm up to 200,000 ohm/cm and insulated with variously colored PVC. The newest additions to the line are FO102T6R, which has a linear resistance of 300-400 ohm/cm, and FO103T6R, which has a linear resistance of around 600 ohm/cm. Both wires possess ODs of 1.3 mm, although most Fibreohm wires are thinner than that diameter. Because Fibreohm wires are totally nonmetallic or contain little metal, they are radiotransparent and can be used as leads for various, patient-connected devices in the presence of both MRIs and X-rays. Similarly, since Fibreohm wiresinteract minimally with electromagnetic fields, they are utilized inelectromagnetic field probes, meters, and antennas. Fibreohm wire is available on spools up toseveral hundred feet in length.
